Cyberpunk 2077 Changed My Life

Cyberpunk 2077 - touching Night City

Cyberpunk 2077 on my Mac

I never played video games before except for MYST, Pong, and some Atari games. Being a Mac user meant PC games were unavailable to me. But as I became captivated with videos of Cyberpunk 2077, I soon learned I could play it on Mac using CrossOver from Code Weavers in native 4K. I even got the FSR3 frame doubling working! As someone who has used Blender to create 3D computer graphics & animations that sometimes taxed my computer when rendered, I couldn't believe the lifelike level, reflections, and speed of Cyberpunk 2077!!! It's an incredible achievement that cost them $437 million to produce (so glad I missed the disastrous launch). I am now a hopeless fan and just can't stop visiting Night City!

Emotional Impact

In a way, I am lucky that this was the first AAA open-world game I ever played, as everything just blew me away! The impact of Cyberpunk 2077 on my life has been very deep, from the life-like visuals, neon lights, gorgeous sunsets, stellar writing & plot twists, and thought-provoking social dilemmas, to the emotional pain in most endings (I cried for two days, deeply hurt while teetering on the brink of never touching the game again). Now, as part of my daily routine, I'm practically living in Night City as Valerie. Cyberpunk 2077 has permanently altered my psyche... I feel very different in real life while driving around listening to music, almost as if she is plugged into my cyberdeck! Unreal... wtf is happening to me?!?!

My Fascination

The game is like being in a movie – an experience I like even more than my favorite cinema! It introduced me to new music genres, changed my musical tastes, and as a musician, it has provided new ideas for music-making, such as my single Pacific Blvd (2024). I bought a colorful Cyberpunk-like sweatshirt, an official Cyberpunk 2077 LED sign, a Night City keychain, painted my nails just like Valerie's, and even decorated my car with Cyberpunk decals! I'm still not over the game after 1000+ hours! After completing several endings, I continued exploring, fighting gangs, shopping for clothes (of course!), and changing my wardrobe while taking numerous pictures – until I finally got the courage to let go of my hard-earned skills/perks and start a new play-thru! Yay, now there's something to do again!

The Cyberpunk Genre

I eagerly await Cyberpunk Orion as well as the TV and/or movie that is in development by CD Projekt Red and Anonymous Content! I'm also looking forward to the Apple TV+ adaptation of William Gibson's book "Neuromancer" (1984) which is credited with starting the Cyberpunk genre. A reviewer comparing that book with Cyberpunk 2077 suggested watching the cheesy "Johnny Neumonic" (1995) starring Keanu Reeves, as it contains numerous elements that we see in Cyberpunk 2077!

My Passion

As a multimedia artist and critical "pixel peeper," I'm now tempted to get a PC just for CP2077 so I can enjoy Ray/Path Tracing and Shaders for ultra-realism, and also for all the mods I cannot run on Mac. After discovering the fun yet time-consuming Photo Mode, I found NexusMods.com to be the easiest, most organized place to post CP2077 game snapshots. Although the image gallery is dominated by modded, soft porn characters (do they even play the game anymore, I wonder?), that's not why I'm there. Beyond dialing in a pretty Valerie character – who can be stunning and sexy just as-is (you go, girl!) – I'm mostly drawn to the realism of the Cyberpunk world and mods that improve the game experience. I take snapshots because I'm a giddy Night City tourist! Cyberpunk 2077 hit me in the face like a bag of quarters! Now, when NPCs ask "Are you wrong in the head or what?" Well, er... maybe!

See you at Cyberpunk Anonymous!  Hello, my name is Wendy, and I'm a Cyberpunk addict. "Hiii, Wendeee!" 😃
